SOLA Relay Fundraiser

Together with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ), the SOLA Relay in 2022 and 2023 sent a message of health, community, and the fight against cancer. Under the umbrella of the SOLA Relay, the ASVZ, the CCCZ, and the UZH Foundation jointly launched a major fundraising campaign. Running teams and their supporters helped advance innovative cancer research and cancer medicine at the CCCZ through their participation and donations. The funds raised went toward the “Exercise, Sports, and Cancer” program at the CCCZ.

In total, nearly 40,000 Swiss francs were raised at the SOLA! We would like to thank everyone who participated and supported the event. Together, we can make a difference.

Exercise Helps Fight Cancer

Numerous studies have shown that exercise and sports tailored to the individual’s situation can be beneficial during cancer treatment. For example, physical activity can measurably reduce the side effects of chemotherapy or anti-hormonal therapy. In addition, it increases physical performance, which can improve the quality of life for cancer patients. Clinical studies also indicate that exercise and sports can influence the development of cancer, the course of the disease, and the risk of recurrence.

The “Exercise, Sports, and Cancer” program at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich aims to support cancer patients with personalized exercise training as part of a holistic physical care plan.
